When this app was first launched there was a lot of talk about it and people were jumping on this bandwagon faster than any other chat application I’ve seen so far. As a result, I had to jump on it myself and see what all the fuss was about.
This is a cross platform chat application that’s available for Android, iOS and Blackberry. It’s very similar to BBM (Blackberry Messenger). It has all the little things that die hard Blackberry users love about BBM like the little checkmarks that tell you if the message has been delivered or read. The interface is quite nice and shows you status updates and you are assigned a PIN just like BBM. Your chats are in chat bubbles, much like your how your text messages look. When you first launch the app, it goes through your contact list and identifies who in your address book has the app and will then ask if you want to add them. You actually have a choice unlike other apps where they just create your contact list by pulling from your address book. After talking to some friends who use the app on their Blackberry and Android, I found that the common comment is that the app drains their phone battery. I thought it was just me when I noticed my battery was down to half after using the app for a couple of hours. I have questioned the developers about this on Twitter, but gotten no response. They seem to only like to answer and re-tweet compliments. Go figure.
One thing they should add and I anticipate that they will, is group chat. This would truly be the one reason why people would download this app is if they had a cross platform working group chat.
In all, this is a great application that does what all it says it does. Updates are quickly available to fix bugs and the developers keep everyone up to date if they happen to go down for whatever reason on their website and on Twitter.
